Singing
My father had an exceptional singing voice. His baritone could always be heard above most of the congregation during the hymns at church.
But the best singing was in the car when we were traveling. AM radio was the best technology at the time and was spotty at best. My favorite was:
"Your red scarf matches your eyes.
You close your cover before striking.
Father's got the shipfitters blues.
Loving you has made me bananas."
And of course he sang it to elicit the most laughter from us children. My....he could really sing.

1956 Pontiac Star Chief
Okay, so I may be a little obsessed about 50s vintage Pontiacs. Andrew and I saw this one at the Boise Car Show over the weekend. You will see one of these for every 55-57 Chevy Belair. Reason being the aforementioned Chevys were more sought after for a long time and many of the Pontiacs and Buicks of the era were crushed and lost. Too bad as this is an aesthetic and mechanical beauty.

57 Shades of Yellow and White, 1957 That Is...

Seeing the the salmon and white 1955 Pontiac Chieftain, at a local cafe, reminded me of the 1957 Pontiac Chieftain Safari wagon my family rambled around in for 10 years. I remember lying on the back seat floor board and feeling the heat during the winter.
The rear compartment would be loaded to the top for the yearly trip to Alturas. One summer I remember having my parents all to myself on the trip back from Alturas. Just myself and baby Justin lying on the goods piled in the back seat. All the other children had gone with uncles to the Ice Caves. It was nice.
